ABOUT ABOUT

A special screening of The North Star film with a discussion introduced by Doylestown Historical Society President Stu Abramson. Executive Producer David DeEllis and writer-producer-director Thomas Phillips, both of Buckingham, PA. Producers will describe the genesis of the screenplay and how the film was inspired by Phillips' childhood memories of visiting Buckingham Mountain and the Mt. Gilead AME Church. These recollections coupled with the production of the courageous true story about Benjamin “Big Ben” Jones life resulted in The North Star. It includes the role of Abolitionist Frederick Douglass and people of Bucks County, PA. The film reveals the difficulties of those escapes and the role played by religious family in Buckingham in Ben Jones' life. We understand that the theater is sold out. Please contact the County Theater at (215) 348-3456 for more information as we are trying to get extra seats. Will post when and if that happens.
