He was a preacher who could hold thousands spellbound...a photographer who captured images of vanishing cultures...an explorer who traveled to the ends of the earth. And then, he was forgotten. A century ago, William Edgar Geil (1865-1925) was the first person to travel the length of the Great Wall of China. Yet he remains unknown to modern audiences, even in his hometown. "Geil of Doylestown: Forgotten Explorer" revives his extraordinary legacy.
The premiere will feature a Q&A with the director Karl Stieg and Rob LaFleur, a Geil expert from Beloit College. Proceeds from ticket donations will benefit Doylestown Historical Society.
